I live very close to this vineyard in a part of Cape Town called Constantia. The drive to the vineyard is short, and I was all set up and deep into my painting by the time the morning mist started to rise. I love the view looking out way beyond the vineyards towards the mountain range in the distance outside of Cape Town. They are such a delicate light purple on mornings like this. I returned on two subsequent mornings to paint the trees in the middle ground, and then the vineyards in the foreground. On each subsequent morning, the leaves on the trees had grown, progressing from a few buds, to bright green spring leaves, to a more mature early summer leaves, filling out and blocking parts of the view I had seen before.
