This painting was accepted into the OPA 2021 Salon Show in Gainesville, GA. The waterfall, which can be accessed from a trailhead that begins in downtown Blowing Rock, is typical of many Blue Ridge waterfalls, where the landscape is covered in rhododendron thickets and the water spills and slides over ancient boulders. I love these mountains where I learned to catch crayfish and wade in freezing water. Long range views are less impressive here than the intimate microenvironment. Studio painting
