Painting at the Rocky Mountains National Park, I kept coming back to the aspens again and again. Each set of trees seemed to be telling a unique story of its life and presence. The barks scratched by the elks, the colors and the discoloration, all were evidence of a life being lived with immense resilience. I love how the light filtering onto the aspens lends them various warm and cool tints and the shadows emphasize the aging trunks.
